National Opt-Out Day gains attention

Wednesday, November 24 is one of the busiest air travel days of the year in the United States. Coming just a day before Thanksgiving, airports are jammed to capacity with travelers heading home for the holiday. This year, those travelers will meet head-on with strict new search policies of the Transportation Security Administration. And not everyone is inclined to cooperate.

A web-based National Opt Out Day campaign is emploring airline passengers to "opt-out" of full-body scanning on November 24, forcing the TSA to conduct individual enhanced pat-downs on thousands of passengers. The organizers object to both the scans and the pat-downs, but plan the protest to bring further attention to what they see as ineffective and intrusive security by the TSA.
